The Bot Factory is a short guided wizard. In a few minutes you’ll have a working bot grounded in your real career data.

Before you start

  • A resume PDF and/or text about yourself (bio, LinkedIn summary, project notes).
  • An LLM API key from your provider of choice. See Models & keys. (You can also add this later.)

Step 1 - Identity

Give your bot a name, a short headline (e.g. “Ask me about my backend experience”), and upload an optional avatar. Pick a theme color - a live preview updates as you choose. See Themes & avatar.

Step 2 - Knowledge

Add what the bot should know:
  • Upload PDFs - drop in your resume (up to 5 files / 10 MB total). ProBot extracts the text, chunks it, and indexes it.
  • Paste text - bio, project descriptions, FAQs.
If a single PDF fails to parse, the rest still save and you can retry just that file. The bot answers only from this knowledge - if it’s not here, the bot says it doesn’t know rather than inventing.

Step 3 - Personality

Choose a tone preset and optionally add custom instructions to steer behavior. See Personality and Custom instructions.

Step 4 - AI model & key

Pick your provider and model and paste your API key. It’s envelope-encrypted at rest and never logged in plaintext. Providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini. See Models & keys.

Step 5 - Deploy

Review and create. You’ll get:
  • A public chat URL: pro-bot.dev/u/<username>/chat
  • A one-line embed snippet for your site. See Embed & share.
New bots start as a draft with a private preview URL - test it, then flip the status to live (saves instantly). See Managing your bot.

After you build

  • Tune knowledge, personality, suggested questions, and rate limits any time.
  • Watch conversations and capture leads in your dashboard.
  • Save your configuration as a reusable preset.
